Chinese Aide lays a unique framework on top of a Mandarin Chinese-English dictionary with the goal of making real-time Mandarin-to-English translation faster and more practical.

The tool accepts English text and Chinese character queries like a typical dictionary, but it's at its most useful when dealing with the standard romanization system pinyin. Enter the pinyin for a phrase that you hear (tone numbers are optional), and even if the phrase as a whole is not in the dictionary, Chinese Aide attempts to provide a framework to help you construct the correct phrase and translation from any parts of the phrase that are in the dictionary. It then lets you test the phrase you've constructed against real-world data by feeding it automatically to various search engines.
